Privacy Policy

Sonder ("the app") is a private voice journaling app. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.

What we collect
Account information. Your email address and a password, used solely to create and secure your account. Passwords are handled by Google Firebase Authentication and are never visible to us.
Journal content. The text of your journal entries, the mood you select, and entry metadata (dates, word counts, chosen topics). This content exists so the app can show you your own journal.
Settings. Your preferences, such as daily reminder time and whether the Face ID lock is enabled.
What we do NOT collect
No audio. Voice input is transcribed on your device by Apple's built-in keyboard dictation. No audio recording is ever created, transmitted, or stored by the app.
No tracking. The app contains no advertising, no analytics SDKs, and no trackers. Your data is never used for advertising or profiling.
No sale of data. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties.
Where your data lives
Your account and journal entries are stored in Google Firebase (Firestore), protected by security rules that make your entries readable and writable by your account only. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Google Cloud. See Google's privacy documentation at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

Face ID
If you enable the Face ID lock, authentication happens entirely on your device through Apple's LocalAuthentication framework. The app never receives or stores your biometric data.

Your choices
Export. You can export all of your journal entries at any time from the You tab ("Export my data").
Delete. You can permanently delete your account and all journal content from the You tab ("Delete Account"). Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
Reminders. Daily reminder notifications are local to your device and can be turned off at any time.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
